Osteochondrosis dissecans
des Metatarsale I-Köpfchens, können zum klinischen Bild des Hallux rigidus führen. Der Hallux rigidus kommt in zwei unterschiedlichen Formen vor. Bei jungen Erwachsenen scheint der Hallux rigidus auf einer angeborenen Gelenkdeformität zu beruhen. Im höheren Lebensalter gleicht der Hallux rigidus eher einer Arthrose anderer Gelenke der unteren Extremität, wobei nur gelegentlich eine konkrete Ursache, wie z.B. eine traumatische Gelenkflächenschädigung, auszumachen ist. Die geeignete Therapie des Hallux rigidus hängt vom Stadium der Erkrankung und vom Alter des Patienten ab.
