Mean concentrations of microelements Mn, Rb, Sr, Mo, Ba, Fe, Cu, and U in the Caspian Sea evaluated based on the results of water sampling in 1995 are given. The obtained values are checked against the requirements to the characteristics of water bodies used for fishery.

Elision and Infiltration Waters in the Northern Caspian

Elision and infiltration groundwater of the Northern Caspian basin are described. It is shown that a zone of elision brines with a high formation pressure exists under the Caspian Sea. These brines are shown to penetrate from below the Caspian Sea into the underground beds, carry fluids, and facilitate the formation of hydrocarbon fields.

The results of experiments discussed in this paper show that some characteristics of gravity waves in finite-depth water can be used in the case of steady flows with a pronounced nonuniformity in open channels.
