A Gram-negative, poly-3-hydroxybutyrate-accumulating rod bacterium, strain GYP-2T, was isolated from a pool of marine Spirulina platensis cultivation, Sanya, China. Growth was observed at 10–45 °C and pH 6–10 in the presence of 1–10 % (w/v) NaCl.
