Publikowane teksty Ignacego Matuszewskiego poświęcone komunistycznej armii Zygmunta Berlinga i Michała Roli-Żymierskiego nie były nigdy publikowane w Kraju. Pierwotnie Matuszewski drukował je w sześciu odcinkach w nowojorskim „Nowym Świecie”, zaś jeden z nich – Niewolnicy – przedrukowano dodatkowo w pośmiertnej edycji Wyboru pism (Nowy Jork-Londyn 1952). Niniejsza publikacja sześciu tekstów publicystycznych Matuszewskiego obejmuje wspomnianych Niewolników oraz blok pięciu tekstów opublikowanych w ramach serii zatytułowanej Świadectwo. Wybór jest niewielkim fragmentem przygotowywanej obecnie w Wojskowym Biurze Historycznym edycji jego tekstów obejmujących okres lat 1912–1946. Obszerna publikacja tekstów zebranych Matuszewskiego ukaże się wiosną 2017 r. Pod każdym publikowanym tekstem podano informację na temat pierwodruku.
