The transposition of European Directive 2013/35/EU into National regulatory frameworks introduced a series of new obligations for employers. Aim of this paper is acritical analysis of the new regulatory text in particular for what concerns exposure limits, new obligations and operative procedures in general.
In this paper, the influence of conductivity values applied to the foetal tissues at 3, 7 and 9 months gestational age on the electric field distribution induced by a 50 Hz uniform magnetic field was explored by means of stochastic dosimetry performed by making use of polynomial chaos theory. The maximum variations of induced electric field peak can reach up to 12 % in foetal fat.
Calculating the effective parameters (permittivity and permeability) in two-phase composite material is very important. In this paper, hierarchical computing method is used to study the equivalent permittivity and permeability of multilayer composite electromagnetic materials, and to obtain the electromagnetic shielding performance of the materials. Firstly, using of Helmholtz theorem gets electric...
This paper shows how a structure of a single subwavelength aperture surrounded by a finite number of gratings can be used to achieve subwavelength focusing of the infrared electromagnetic radiation. We use copper as a material which is CMOS compatible. The structure focuses the infrared incident radiation into a hot-spot of full width at half maximum (FWHM) smaller than the wavelength of the incident...
Analytic solution is presented to the problem of scattering of a plane wave from a chiral elliptic cylinder placed in another infinite chiral medium, using the method of separation of variables. The incident, scattered as well as the transmitted electromagnetic fields are expressed in terms of appropriate angular and radial Mathieu functions with expansion coefficients. The scattered and transmitted...
Wireless Power Transfer coil designs have been explored and two novel coil designs are presented in this paper. Controlling Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) and Leakage Electric Fields emanating from coils and antennas have been major issues. The two designs presented in this paper are applicable for the spiral as well as the solenoid coil designs. The self and mutual inductances, as well as the coupling...
Knowing the electric fields that may be encountered in the proximity of large array antennas is critical for determining the compatibility of equipment near that antenna. Given a few parameters such as effective area, frequency and power, the electric field magnitudes at any given range can be approximated within easily determined boundaries using well-understood electromagnetic theory. This paper...
The uncertainty quantification problem in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is solved by means of a realistic head model and considering the statistical correlation between grey matter and white matter electrical conductivities. The fast model order reduction approach, introduced by the authors, is extended here to the general case of correlated random parameters. Numerical results prove that correlations...
