Three antennas including a printed dipole, a meander antenna and a loop meander antenna operating at 2.46 GHz are presented. They are simulated, fabricated and measured. The results show that the design of meaner antenna and meander loop antenna do expand the bandwidth without increasing the antenna size.
We use a genetic algorithm to minimize the Relative Sidelobe Level (RSLL) of a dual polarized concentric ring array. The optimization variables are the placement of uniformly weight spiral antennas in an aperture with a small area. We used isotropic sources for the optimization and the topology used is the concentric ring array. The computation of the Array Factor (AF) of the topology used is expensive...
This paper proposes a reconfigurable frequency selective surface (FSS) operating in the X band composed of triangular elements periodically placed on a single FR-4 dielectric layer. The reconfiguration of the proposed FSS allows a quasi-linear variation of the rejecting resonant frequency as function of the incident wave angle. The variation of the incident wave angle is provided by rotation of the...
A suspended plate antenna (SPA) with L-probe feed is of interest as an efficient non-contacting feed method. It maintains high efficiency even when the plate is constructed of poorly conducting materials such as conductive inks. An SPA is designed at 10 GHz where fabrication tolerances can have an impact on performance. The SPA as designed has 36 percent impedance bandwidth and 8 to 9 dBi of gain...
Two-element ultra-wideband (UWB) multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) antennas are presented to obtain high isolation. The designed UWB-MIMO antennas are composed of two identical orthogonal antenna elements, and a defected ground structure with I-shaped slot and a pair of L-shaped stub are employed to get better isolation. Bandwidth of the proposed antennas range from 3.28 GHz-12 GHz. Also,...
A suspended plate antenna (SPA) array for a high power application is presented. The application required a compact and light weight antenna with at least 20 percent of impedance bandwidth and 14 dBi of gain as well as a low backlobe over a frequency range of 750 to 850 MHz. A single SPA has a little more than 36 percent impedance bandwidth and 8 to 9 dBi of gain. Forming a 2-dimensional array of...
Synchronous switching noise generated between the power supply and the ground plane of a high-speed digital circuit is considered to be one of the most important factors affecting the signal integrity of a circuit system. In order to suppress the synchronous switching noise (SSN), a new coplanar electromagnetic band-gap structure is proposed in this paper. Based on the zigzag line and square patch...
