Vigorous and transformative investigation of the millimeter/submillimeter sky at high sensitivity and high resolution has benefitted from the recent completion five years of science from the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA). ALMA is a partnership of ESO (representing its member states), NSF (USA) and NINS (Japan), together with NRC (Canada), NSC and ASIAA (Taiwan), and KASI (Republic...
For point-to-point backhaul systems located in a vegetated residential area, the base-station transmitter is located close to the surrounding rooftops; the propagation takes place over the rooftops and through the canopy of the trees. The receivers, in many cases, are also located close to the surrounding rooftops or well below them. The objective of the present paper is to use the Torrico-Bertoni-Lang...
We have developed a new propagation modeling technique for characterizing and geolocating ionospheric irregularities using radio occultation observations of amplitude scintillation. The approach taken is to solve an inverse problem for the propagation of radio waves through a phase changing screen. Referred to as Irregularity Parameter Estimation (IPE), this inverse technique infers the irregularity...
We present 560 m terrestrial link rain attenuation measurements at 84 GHz in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Both empirical and theoretical rain attenuation models such as ITU-R, Mie and Rayleigh will be examined with the measurements. This study will contribute to the understanding of signal propagation phenomena and the utilization of the W/V-bands for satellite communication.
