We implemented pressure-dependent terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. Compared with traditional far-IR spectroscopy with a diamond anvil cell, we can measure at much lower frequencies, down to 0.1 THz, giving us access to many interesting dynamics. The pressure tuning range is from room pressure to 5 kpsi, while the temperature tuning range is from 77 to 473 K. With this large range of tuning parameters,...
We propose here to experimentally demonstrate original methods, combining terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) and Kramers-Kronig (KK) relations, to fully characterize in transmission non-classical samples for example exhibiting either low transmission bands, or scattering effect. For such samples, classical THz-TDS extraction process leads to erroneous optical parameters (refractive index...
We present a demonstration system for gas analysis based on cw-terahertz absorption spectroscopy. The setup combines tunable 1.5 μm distributed-feedback (DFB) lasers, InGaAs photomixers and a multipass absorption cell into a high-resolution spectrometer. At gas pressures of 1 mbar, we achieved detection limits in the range of approx. 20 ppm for ammonia (NH3) and 100 ppm for sulfur dioxide (SO2). Absorption...
