In this work polyurethane/graphene nanocomposites containing segments of poly(ethylene glycol) with defined molecular weight were obtained as new phase change materials for thermal energy storage. The prepared materials were investigated by means of DSC, TG, SEM and ultrasonic non-destructive methods. Enhancements in the thermal stability and thermal conductivity in polyurethane systems modified with...
The NANO4WAVES approach aims at investigating and demonstrating the potential of a clever hierarchization into polymer matrices of nanoscaled inclusions (carbon nanotubes, graphene, metallic nanotubes and nanospheres) for controlling signals, with a dramatic impact on the electromagnetic propagation at wavelengths ranging from micrometers up to tenths of centimeters, with a particular focus on broadband...
High aspect ratio graphene based fillers with different dimensionalities showed the ability to greatly modify rheological, mechanical, thermal and electrical properties of polymers at very low content. In this work, the effect of filler dimensionality on the multifunctional properties of an epoxy matrix reinforced by both carbon nanotubes (1D) and graphite nanoplatelets (2D) have been investigated...
Development of artificial or robotic skin implementing optical touch sensors is considered. Integration of polymeric optical fibers in elastomeric nanocomposite matrix biomimicking human skin specification as flexibility and large-area sensing is presented. The sensing principle is directly linked to deformation of the polymeric optical fiber itself under applied weight solicitations.
