In this paper, two approaches of Fault-Tolerant Control for Discrete Event Systems are compared: the Fault-Hiding approach [4] and the control reconfiguration approach [5]. They are applied on a single case study in order to be compared. Then, a discussion on processing capacities, model sizes and limitations of the two methods is proposed.
To perform a wide range of tasks service robots need to robustly extract knowledge about the world from the data perceived through the robot's sensors even in the presence of varying context-conditions. This makes the design and development of robot perception architectures a challenging exercise. In this paper we propose a robot perception architecture which enables to select and execute at runtime...
This paper presents an approach that uses a supervisor architecture structure with the intention to reach flexibility of the combustion process control during the boiler functioning on the example of the high qualified GETEC Heat & Power AG. For this case, adaptive distributed 3-layer boiler control system with the supervisor on top is invented, supported on the middle layer with load distribution...
The fact that normal tasks of control blocks are highly complex and unnecessarily overfitted has led to superfluously high workloads with regard to engineering and development. Existing concepts of variability handling are not designed for this use case. Therefore we present a new variant description model and concept for a control block variant management technique. This concept ensures that the...
In this paper an innovative concept for a fault prevention in industrial automation systems is presented. The goal of this concept is the avoidance of downtimes, by means of the early identification of fault developments during runtime. Additionally, in comparison to common fault prevention solutions, today's complexity of prevention processes and the increasing amount of data is aimed to be reduced...
In the online and tracking simulation context, precise model initialization is highly important to ensure the quality of predictions made based on simulation. This paper presents a hybrid approach for the initialization of tracking simulation systems that combines different techniques and utilizes the persistent communication between model and process in order to initialize the simulation model. In...
