Using a simple model we derive a universal condition for oscillation in a traveling wave tube for frequencies near a band edge, when the adjacent band gap is small. The condition is expressed graphically as a value for the maximum allowable (stable) small signal gain as a function of the size of the band gap. As an example of the application of the general condition, a simple upper bound on the E-plane...
The interaction circuit with a ladder type structure is designed for the W-band high-power extended interaction klystron (EIK). The stability of the multi-gap resonant cavity is analyzed. The preliminary design is verified by 3D-PIC simulation and the results meet the requirements in stability, gain and output power.
Cadmium sulphide-polyaniline (CdS-PANI) nanotube composite was synthesized in two steps. Simple chemical oxidative polymerization has been used to synthesize PANI nanotubes in the first step, which are used further to form nanocomposite with CdS nanoparticles in the second step. The structural, optical and chemical properties of the CdS-PANI nanotube composite are revealed using XRD, UV-visible TEM,...
Effect of reflection from the output window on the mode competition in gyrotron is investigated using the equations of quasilinear theory for slowly varying amplitudes of the modes with time delayed terms. Stability analysis of single-mode operation shows that the reflections can, under the certain conditions, strongly affect the operation regime.
This paper presents the latest results from a second harmonic gyro-TWA experiment at Strathclyde University. The experiment uses a helically corrugated interaction region and operates at Ka-band. Simulations have been performed to predict the amplifier gain and bandwidth using linear theory. Amplifier stability margin can be improved with the addition of a sever. A sever has been designed and manufactured,...
