L-3 EDD has developed a pulsed mode W-Band microwave power module (MPM) providing 100W RF power over 92 to 96 GHz. The MPM includes a serpentine waveguide PPM-focused TWT and a modular electronic power conditioner (EPC). A breadboard power supply was previously built and successfully tested with a W-Band TWT. The final power conditioner design is completing development for packaging with a TWT as...
In this paper, the design of a magnetron injection gun (MIG) with a single-anode built for W-band gyrotron oscillator is presented. The simulation of the MIG is finished with the help of a trajectory program EGUN. The simulation results indicate that the velocity ratio with velocity spread of less than 4% is 1.41.
A periodic cusped magnetic (PCM) focusing W-Band sheet beam electron optics system is designed. The beam voltage and current are 75 kV and 3.8 A, respectively. The guns with different focusing electrode potentials are simulated and its influences on the electron beam transmission are presented. The PCM focusing structure is modified to match the focusing magnetic field and the injected beam state...
This paper presents the development of W-band folded waveguide pulsed TWT. We have obtained experimentally over 100W output power with 5GHz instantaneous bandwidth and 33dB gain at 20% duty cycle.
The design of a W-band serpentine TWT with >200 W of power over a 4 GHz bandwidth (>100 W over 7 GHz) is presented. The amplifier is driven by a 122mA, 20 kV electron beam generated by a slightly modified version of the demonstrated 670 GHz beamstick at a reduced magnetic field. The design was performed by both the established MAGIC-3D and the recently validated NRL code Neptune, with good agreement...
The experimental implementation of W-band backward-wave oscillator is achieved by using a multilevel microfabrication of interaction circuit including beam tunnel, slow-wave structure, and output transition, on deep reactive ion etched (DRIE) and metal deposited silicon wafers. The interaction circuit shows precise accuracy in full 3 dimensions, and the return loss measurement agrees well with HFSS...
