Possible quantum analogues of classical powerful microwave devices (multiwave Cherenkov generator, high-power klystrons, relativistic TWT and BWO) in the interaction of multi streams of charged particles of different sign are discussed. From the standpoint link with the experiment, we have the electron-positron system with collective interaction of many macroscopic groups of particles.
Theoretical calculation, numerical simulation and experimental development of a W-band gyro-TWA with a helically corrugated waveguide and a cusp electron gun are presented. The cusp gun generated a 40 keV, 1.5 A axis-encircling electron beam. The maximum output of the gyro-TWA was predicted to be 5 kW with a 3 dB frequency bandwidth of 90–100 GHz and a saturated gain of 37 dB. The latest experimental...
Some technical problems were found during the testing and the application of the C-band MBK. These problems include the variation of power-frequency characteristics; the oscillation of high order modes; the breakdown in the electron gun and the microwave leak at the collector insulator. These technical problems were caused by the evaporation of the cathode, attenuating material and the copper, or...
The Recirculating Planar Magnetron (RPM) is a crossed-field device which presents numerous potential advantages in generating High Power Microwaves (HPM). A 12-cavity, conventional-polarity, 1-GHz RPM model has been experimentally designed and tested at a −300 kV, 0.3–0.5 microsecond pulselengths and a 0.2 T axial magnetic field. The experimental results and future concepts are under investigation.
Some physical phenomena had been observed in the collector region of the C-band and S-band MBKs made by Institute of Electronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IECAS). One of them is the overheating of the collector inner surface, which will lead to the evaporation of the copper. The second one is the potential drop at the entrance of the collector, which will lead to the electron reflection. The third...
The effects of introducing one or more reflectors inside an axial Vircator are analyzed using CST-Particle Studio® PIC simulation. The power conversion efficiency is shown to be enhanced from 1% to 13% at 3 GHz. The optimum output power is obtained with three reflectors.
Effective electromagnetic coupling with electronic equipment at radiation is used by a high power microwave (HPM) weapons source which means a relativistic backward wave oscillator in here. In the process of researching, developing and using HPM source, we have been studying a real “effective coupling” source which is able to attack the overall target, suitable in all situation ns. The experimental...
A novel high-power oscillator based on the gyroklystron amplifier with external delayed feedback is designed and tested. The oscillator produces 1–1.5 MW peak power with nearly 1 μs pulse duration in Ka-band.
An X-band to Ka-band klystron frequency multiplier was developed that can triple input frequency and amplify input power simultaneously. It had X-band components except a Ka-band output section. The experimental results showed that the peak output power of 14 kW can be reached at beam voltage of 36kV.
Plasma assisted microwave devices are unique source for microwave radiation. This paper presents the status for development of X-band Plasma Assisted Slow Wave Oscillator (PASOTRON) of peak power 0.5MW.
. The possibility of effective frequency multiplication in a relativistic gyro-klystron is discussed. The proposed scheme key feature is that while the input cavity modulates the electron beam at fundamental harmonic the excitation of the output cavity can be easily switched by simple change of electron beam parameters between fundamental harmonic and third harmonic. First experimental results confirm...
The operation of the microwave compressor driven by a relativistic S-band magnetron, which produces microwave pulses with power up to 250 MW and duration of ∼100 ns, is described. The electric strength of the compressor is increased by using the traveling wave resonator which does not require a resonant interference switch for release of the stored energy. A preliminary results of the energy release...
Currently developing new scientific direction-gamma electronics, which investigated the interaction of the electron and positron beams with the electromagnetic field in the γ-range wavelength. Gamma-electronics study tasks and problems of production and long existence the electron-positron substance (EPS) with unique properties. The ability to manage the use of the energy of electron-positron pairs...
The phase shift of alternating voltage in the last but one cavity allows align electron velocities in already generated bunch. On the basis of this method C-band 30-beam klystron has been developed and tested. The 25% decrease of cathode voltage has been observed due to reducing velocity spread in the bunch.
In recent years, many types of Vacuum tubes have been successfully modeled using simulation codes. However, there wasn't a complete solution which is suitable for multi-physics problem and is embedded in various industry standard workflows through integrated design environment which gives access to the entire range of numerical technology. CST STUDIO SUITE® provides engineers and researchers with...
