The flow simulation of the membrane module of PRO, the following results obtained. 1. There is distorted flow in a module. 2. Amount of osmosis is different in a module. At the fresh water collects the amount of osmosis is rapidly decrease. 3. Amount of osmosis in hollow fiber area is about ten percent of the whole.
Effect of heat pipes is described for suppressing heat leakage of the thermoelectric generator, which is used as the power source of energy harvesting. The experimental results show that the heat pipes are effective in suppressing heat leakage even if the temperature difference was small. By increasing the number of heat pipes, the output of thermoelectric generation was stable during the experiment.
An environmentally friendly and low-friction bearing for applications such as tidal power generation is proposed using biomimetic technologies. A biomimetic bearing was successfully developed using a hydrated material, polyvinyl formal (PVF), which mimics articular cartilage in a natural synovial joint. A non-Newtonian fluid, polyethylene glycol (PEG) dissolved in distilled water, was used as a lubricant,...
The installation of micro generation systems on-board of electric vehicles is a solution that can contribute to improve the performance of this type of vehicles. Embedded generation systems increase the autonomy of electric vehicles and can reduce the number of times and duration of the recharging process of their energy storage systems. In this work, the influence of installing micro-generation systems...
Monitoring system for the synchronous generators can be very different from case to case due to their purpose. Usually they have rather low sample rate and record only RMS values of physical quantities. This paper will describe a specific monitoring system for three synchronous generators in hydro power plant. Also some applications of such measurement system and usage of data recorded with it are...
Inductive Power Transfer (IPT) has recently been proposed for application with Electric or Hybrid Electric Vehicles (EV/HEV), where a highly efficient system operation is demanded for the high-power transfer. Due to the high requirements on the regulation of the output power and the output voltage, and due to the large variations of the magnetic coupling, the control of these systems is a challenging...
The paper investigates the use of multilevel cascaded Z source inverter (MC-ZSI) for photovoltaic (PV) power generation system. The control of the proposed system will take into account the multilevel modulation scheme and the independent control of the shoot-through duty ratio of the connected Z source inverters (ZSI). In three phase three cells inverter, there exist nine independent shoot-through...
Due to the global warming and energy resource shortage, renewable energies such as wind generation (WG), photovoltaic (PV) facility are getting more attention in distribution systems. It is very necessary to use renewable energy with present power equipments cooperatively as it can be easily affected by the different weather conditions. Since the cost of diesel generator (DG) is high when starting...
This paper presents a basic sensitivity analysis of the conversion losses in a dc microgrid by varying the system parameters. A simple residential apartment with 20 units with a photovoltaic (PV) system is taken for the analysis. The conversion losses are calculated with the measured electricity consumption and the estimated output of the PV system. Modelica, an object-oriented modeling language,...
This paper presents a simulation model of green energy devices, which is developed for analyzing energy balance of a micro-grid and for optimizing its management. Several renewable energy based electricity production and storage are modeled and analyzed in the making of strategies for sustainable micro-grid management. In this study, two different simulation models are described, which call a “long-term...
The extraction of energy from ocean waves has been investigated in Europe since the 1970s. Several devices have been proposed and a few of them have been built full scale and deployed to the ocean. Actually there is not a kind of device that is accepted as the most suitable to exploit wave power.
This paper is mainly concerned with the development of a new state-of-the-art prototype, high-efficiency, phase-shift, soft-switching, pulse-modulated, full-bridge DC-DC power converter with a high-frequency power transformer, which is designed for utility-grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) power inverters. The proposed high-frequency transformer (HFTR) link DC-DC converter topology is based on a new conceptual...
Distributed generation (DG) and microgrid will play important roles in the future electric network operations. They could improve energy efficiency, minimize environmental impacts and enhance power system reliability. A power scheduling approach considering load/generation changes and time of use (TOU) tariff for a low voltage DC microgrid incorporating energy storage battery, fuel cell and photovoltaic...
