In this paper we explore an adaptation of a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) Josephson R-SQUID (Resistive Superconducting Quantum Interference Device) heterodyne oscillator for the detection of terahertz (THz) radiation. This approach can be potentially applied for a large array detector readout in the frequency domain. The design concepts for the R-SQUID THz detector and early measurement results...
We present our recent development of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) Josephson terahertz (THz) detector arrays for imaging. The device is made of 10 Au thin-film antennae-coupled YBa2Cu3Ox−7 step-edge Josephson junction detectors. The design and characterization of the THz detector array, the development of multi-channel biasing and read-out electronics, and the system integration will be described.
