This paper proposes a characterization method for the electromagnetic properties of thin films, based on the resonance properties of a slow-wave coplanar strips resonator. It is shown that using the resonant frequency and the quality factor of the resonator, permittivity and loss tangent of an unknown thin film at high frequencies such as mm-wave frequencies can be accurately determined. The method...
We developed a new chemical procedure for the fabrication of TiO2 dielectric microspheres. We also proposed an elegant way to evaluate of the effective dielectric permittivity and magnetic permeability of single-layer films made of independent resonators. The resonant magnetic response of was observed in the THz range. Experimental results are in agreement with simulations.
We carried out terahertz-time domain spectroscopy of a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) diamond substrate and derived its complex permittivity from 0.3 to 2.2 THz. The permittivity in this region shows broad band features. It is suggested that some other dielectric response is present above 2.2 THz in the CVD diamond.
