The structure of Static Var Compensator (SVC) control system and compensation principle is briefly analyzed in this paper. Based on the control method of nonlinear norm transformation PID, a novel method for SVC using nonlinear slope reactance is presented. The simulation results show that the method can accelerate the stabilizing process and reduce rising time and overshoot obviously.
When large power supply system becomes isolated after fault occurred, the best method is finding a suitable grid-connected point to connect with external power system to maintain stable. This paper presents different connection methods on different operation conditions based on one actual power supply system. If active power in isolated system is larger than load demand, cutting-generator is adopted;...
Transient stability analysis is a highly complex nonlinear problem in large-scale power systems. Lots of features can reflect the transient stability state. Selecting the appropriate input features which have strong relations with stability or stability index is one of the key factors that acquire a better result in the transient stability evaluation. This paper presented a method that excellently...
With the rapid development and interconnection of power systems, the low frequency oscillations(LFO) has become one of the serious factors threatening the power system stability. Thus, how to quickly locate the source of LFO and implement controller to suspend it, is an urgent task. The general approach to locate the sources of LFO is using the node contribution factor(NCF), which indicating the contribution...
Distributed generation (DG) technology has drawn increasing attention for its tremendous benefits to customers, utilities and the environment. Furthermore, microturbine based power generation has become the most promising DG for its excellent record of improving system stability and economy. In this paper we develop a complete mathematic model, which includes the microturbine, a permanent magnet synchronous...
Wind energy is the most important type of renewable energy in Europe. The stability of system network operation with a large penetration of wind energy has become one of the most critical issues in the new structure of power systems with different types of generation. In this paper the HVDC and HVAC connection of the wind farm to grid is compared. The HVDC is more advantageous in maintaining the system...
This paper deals with the aspects of stability assessment for the VSC HVDC transmission systems that are especially relevant for this technology when applied on a large scale. It focuses on the control strategies for the VSC HVDC transmission necessary to reach a full integration of large offshore wind farms into the power system operation while minimizing the critical situations for the power system...
