This paper presents an initial state of the art about the estimation of the sound power emitted by electrical machines. The paper proposes a new method, more accurate, to evaluate the sound power emitted by a PM machine by a 3D FEM mechanical analysis. It also takes into account tangential forces applied on the teeth. Finally the papers shows the impact of any harmonic force in the global emitted...
Acoustic resonances are observed in high-pressure discharge lamps operated with ac input modulated power frequencies in the kHz range. This paper describes an optical resonance detection method for HID lamps using computer controlled cameras and image processing software. Experimental results showing acoustic resonances in HPS and metal halide lamps are presented.
Years of research in the fundamentals of acoustically generated flows in HID arc tubes for enhancement have recently produced record breaking performance in converting wall plug power to useful white light. In this paper simulated results show how power modulation produces straightened arcs. A fully unsteady compressible 2D flow model is used to reproduce observed instantaneous pressure and temperature...
