We observe experimentally all-optical analogue to electromagnetically induced transparency with silicon photonic crystal nanocavities having high intrinsic quality factor and small modal volume. This phenomenon is analyzed through coupled-mode formalism and three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain method.
Blue and yellow electroluminescence of MOSLEDs made on Si-rich SiOx with buried Si nanocrystals of different sizes controlled with minimum hydrogen passivation are demonstrated by PECVD at different N2O/SiH4 ratio and total fluence.
Supercollimation is the diffraction-less propagation of light using the dispersion properties of specially-designed photonic crystals. We have measured supercollimation in photonic crystals composed of nano-scale rods over distances of up to one thousand lattice periods.
We report here the design and experimental results on surface-normal optical filters based on Fano resonance in patterned single crystalline silicon nanomembranes (SiNM), which were fabricated and transferred onto transparent glass substrates using a disruptive SiNM wet transfer process. The measured filter transmission results agree well with the design. Further design and process optimizations can...
We describe, fabricate and demonstrate multi-slotted silicon nanophotonic waveguides, comprised of four low index slots etched longitudinally along the waveguide. The computed modal profiles are well described by supermode theory. We have measured the group index of refraction of the waveguide in the TE and TM polarizations.
