Network Virtualization (NV) realizes the decoupling of network infrastructure and network services. With the emergence of the Software Defined Network (SDN), it is easier to implement NV supporting dynamic heterogeneous underlay network. In this paper, we present and experimentally validate an Optical Network Virtualization (ONV) architecture based on OpenVirteX (OVX) supporting bandwidth on demand...
Due to the unique data structure, the big datagram is prone to packet loss during the network outburst transmission process, especially in the space TT&C (Tracking, Telemetry and Communication) network which is very strict in real time. This paper focuses on the analysis of the transmission mechanism of big datagram, expatiates its fragmentation, reorganization and Re-fragmentation mechanism....
Software Defined Satellite Networking (SDSN) provides an innovative perspective to manage satellite network through logically centralized network view and standard interfaces between the control and data plane. Significant advantages of SDSN include enabling integration of space and terrestrial network, flexible and efficient resource management, rapid and economical network function updating, etc...
With the rapid development of cloud computing and emerging services, traffic in data center network is experiencing an explosive growth, which has brought a great challenge to the existing electrical data center networks. In order to take full advantage of the large bandwidth of optical interconnects, the optical and electrical hybrid data center network is proposed. However, there are still some...
In this paper, we demonstrate a 2μm switchable single-longitudinal-mode dual-wavelength fiber laser based on composite cavity and a core-offset structure. The fiber laser is switchable, power-equalized and operating in single-longitudinal-mode.
We propose and numerically simulate a 2×2 Digital Optical Switch (DOS) based on silicon-on-insulator (SOI) adiabatic coupler for TE polarizations at 1550nm. The simulation results acquired by Beam-Propagation-Method (BPM) reveal that the cross-talk (CT) levels are below −27dB over a broadband of 60nm. Small simulated insertion-losses (ILs) below 0.1dB are obtained between the wavelengths 1520nm to...
Traditional intelligent substation communication network has the problem in large transmission delay and delay jitter. This paper studied service isolation and low delay technology as the key technologies of EPON communication network for new intelligent substation. We built the experimental network and tested the performances of various services under different load conditions, the results verified...
A novel switchable microwave photonic filter (MPF) based on a second-order Lyot loop and an optical phase modulator (PM) is presented and experimentally demonstrated. A broadband light emitted from a broadband optical source (BOS) is sliced by a second-order Lyot loop which acts as a spectrum slicer, then, is modulated by an optical PM and delayed by a dispersive medium. By doing this, a switchable...
We review our previously proposed topology reconstruction mechanism in the small world topology based optical data center network (DCN). We also present some recent experimental demonstration results, which verified that the topology reconstruction can reduce the number of hotspots and thus further accelerate data analysis jobs in DCN.
We design and fabricate a silicon based 1×2 optical switch based on the free-carrier plasma dispersion effect, with a Mach-Zehnder interferometer structure on silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafer. The experimental result shows that it has an extinction ratio of 21.8 dB at 1546 nm, which meets the requirements of the most applications in optical telecommunication networks.
A novel broadband and scalable RF switch matrix based on microwave photonics is proposed and the proof-of-concept experiments are carried out. The experiment results show that the proposed RF switch matrix is with a good linearity, link gain, port isolation and EVM performance.
We propose a silicon 2×2 optical switch which can simultaneous manipulate wavelength division multiplexing and mode division multiplexing signals. It is composed of broadband mode multiplexers, demultiplexers and single mode optical switch elements. For demonstration, we design and fabricate a prototype device using asymmetric directional coupler and Mach-Zehnder optical switch elements which can...
Owing to the uncertainty of SV packet transmission delay in switches, the synchronization of network sampling based on the compensation for SV packet transmission delay must rely on an external synchronization system. This letter gives a structure of Ethernet switch based on FPGA aiming to measure the time delay of SV packets transmission, and proposes a method of measuring and storing the time delay...
Gain and phase dynamics induced by ultra-short pulse in semiconductor optical amplifiers operating in counter-propagating scheme are numerically investigated by employing a field propagation model. The numerical model accounts for the carrier depletion, carrier heating, spectral hole burning and gain dispersion. Propagating schemes have significant influences on gain and phase dynamics, especially...
