In this paper, we experimentally demonstrate the performance of crosstalk mitigation for 16QAM-OFDM-carrying OAM multiplexed FSO links by using the pilot assisted Least Square (LS) algorithm. Crosstalk is introduced by demodulation holograms with random turbulent phase screen at the demodulation SLMs. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can efficiently improve the quality of constellations...
We exploit a SiN/Si double-layer platform for an ultra-low crosstalk multi-port optical switch that exhibits −50 dB crosstalk in a bandwidth wider than the C-band. The platform possesses full compatibility with a silicon photonics platform.
Adaptive DD-OFDM transmission is proposed for low-cost deployment of homogenous MCF links where ICXT can cause outage probabilities. Experimental demonstration shows a throughput gain relative to the static modulation of 13% and high ICXT tolerance with a reduction of the average throughput of only 9% relative to the situation measured without ICXT.
We conducted the first ever investigation on the impact of inter-wavelength selective switch (WSS) crosstalk in multiple-arrayed WSSs and confirmed that it is a critical issue for an optical signal transmission. To address this issue, we propose a method to reduce inter-WSS crosstalk, taking optical node application into consideration. We demonstrate that the proposed method enables 11-dB crosstalk...
We present a graded index ring-core fiber for long-distance OAM mode transmission. Due to the graded index profile of the ring-shaped fiber core, the supported OAM modes are more pure and degenerate than those in the step-index ring-core fibers. A simple ring-core fiber design scheme is introduced. This scheme illustrates the relationship between the mode effective refractive indices and the designed...
Various kinds of optical image splitters find application in flat autostereoscopic display devices for image content separation. All type of parallax barriers have to deal with lack of transmittable intensity. In this paper we determine and modify geometrical and optical properties of cylindrical lens raster for two prototype 3D-displays with 5K resolution. Optical simulation analysis is used for...
We proposed, for the first time, a MPLC based programmable multi-port mode switch that can support m mode channels by using 2m + 1 times plan optical conversation. A 1×3 port mode switch with one mode channel is simulated by using 3 phase plates. Mode conversation and switch are performed with insertion loss less than 0.5dB and crosstalk less than −23.5dB.
We estimate potential component savings in MCF-based networks by using shortest path traffic routing and compare them with the current SCF-based systems. We also investigate the potential impact of various inter-core crosstalk values on the number of needed transponders in MCF networks.
We propose a novel reconfigurable integrated optical mode (de)multiplexer using cascaded multiport directional couplers and phase shifter arrays. Large fabrication tolerance and scalability up to 16-mode (de)multiplexing are demonstrated.
A step-index 10-mode (6-LP-mode) fiber (10MF) with large effective index differences is fabricated and experimentally validated for weakly-coupled few-mode transmission. Modal crosstalk of less than −13.9 dB between 6-LP modes was achieved in an 81-km long 10MF with a pair of mode multiplexer and demultiplexer.
We analytically evaluate the transmission performance through 480-km WDM transmission of 256-Gb/s high baud rate single carrier signal and multicarrier signal with different number of subcarriers employing MIMO-based crosstalk compensation. We verify the effectiveness of multi-carrier transmission system employing MIMO-based crosstalk compensation achieves Q improvement at the sub-carrier spacing...
We propose an inter-core crosstalk-aware routing, spectrum and core allocation scheme with spectrum bands and spatial Sp-Chs in multi-dimensional optical networks to get higher SE and lower XT. 15% reduction in XT is achieved.
A laser-based eye-tracked autostereoscopic three-dimensional (3D) display has been developed, which is composed of a scanning laser, a ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) spatial light modulator (SLM) array, an assembled liquid crystal display (LCD) screen and an eye tracker. In the proposed system, the SLM array generates dynamic aperture pairs to modulate the scanning laser. Each aperture pair projects...
A hybrid multiplexer (HMUX) for wavelength/mode-division (WDM/MDM) is proposed, based on photonic crystals (PCs) and consisting of two asymmetrical parallel waveguides (APWs). It can realize TE0 and TE1 modes multiplexing at wavelengths of 1310nm and 1550nm, based on the coupled mode theory. The finite-difference time-domain method is used for simulation. The simulation results show that the performance...
