This work presents a novel focal plane module architecture based on kilo-pixel arrays able to image from UV to far-infrared scenes. The focal plane arrays are integrated with custom-made, chopper-stabilized read-out integrated circuits into sub-assembly modules to be mounted on the optical telescope of the instrument.
We present an investigation related with the use of sialic acid as an auxiliary indicator for the early detection of diseases by using Terahertz Frequency-Domain Spectroscopy (THz-FDS) Technique. We propose the characterization of thin films of N-Acetylneuraminic acid-synthetic, >95% and add in colloidal solution nanoparticles of Ag (Ag-NPs) and Au (Au-NPs) in order to increase the superficial...
We report on Doppler-free spectroscopy using a free-running terahertz quantum-cascade laser at 3.3 THz in a pumpprobe configuration with a fast Ge:Ga detector. The sensitivity of the setup allows for the observation of a Lamb dip in deuterated water with a resolution of less than 1 MHz and an acquisition time of only 10 ms.
We show that the mechanism of structural arrest in colloidal dispersions can be revealed by the dielectric properties at THz frequencies. This opens ways to in situ study layered dispersions, which cannot be probed with existing techniques. This vivid topic in colloidal science is moreover of high relevance for applications such as quality control of functional materials.
Vibrational anharmonicity in molecular solids is of key importance for fundamental physical properties such as thermal expansion and specific heat capacity. In solids, anharmonic character is largely dictated by intermolecular forces, and can be assessed using terahertz vibrational spectroscopy to probe the sub-100cm−1 motions. Significant anharmonicity can be readily identified by anomalous red shifting...
Terahertz spectra of various disaccharides, including cellobiose which is not well investigated previously, were measured. Terahertz spectrum was successfully obtained in wide temperature range from 98 K to 298 K. The origins of the spectrum were discussed by analysis of their temperature dependence, and comparing related disaccharides.
We investigate effects of bound water molecules on optical phonon vibrations that occur at frequencies as low as the terahertz (THz) region (300 GHz–10 THz) with both spectroscopy and molecular dynamics simulation.
