This paper addresses the scheduling problem of grid connected microgrid. A particle structure without binary variables is proposed. The problem using the proposed particle structure is solved using particle swarm optimization (PSO) for grid connected and islanded modes of microgrid. The results obtained are compared with those of existing mixed integer approach and found to be promising.
