We demonstrate the detection of single protein molecules in an aqueous environment with an Yb-doped silica microlaser. With the employment of a real-time spectrum analyzer, a fast sampling speed of sub-milliseconds per spectrum was adopted.
We study experimentally and numerically the electro-optic (EO) effect in a single split-ring-resonator (SRR) fabricated on a ZnTe-substrate resonating at 3 GHz. Measured EO signals at SRR-gap show an order of magnitude enhancement at resonance.
We report a method for rapidly scanning a cw-laser through optical cavity resonances. This technique involves a microwave source and an electro-optic phase modulator, giving high sensitivity, wide tunability and fast acquisition rates.
We present a mid-infrared quantum cascade laser embedded into a micro-strip line for high frequency modulation. Modulating with less than 10mW at the round trip frequency, we observe beat-note injection locking within a range in the order of 1 MHz.
