This paper proposes a novel position sensorless control in the overmodulation range of an inverter for IPMSMs with magnetic non-linearity. This paper describes the simultaneous achievement of (1) position sensorless control, (2) robust maximum torque per ampere control in consideration of the magnetic non-linearity in an IPMSM, and (3) robust overmodulation drives of the inverter. First, this paper...
For sensorless position detection of permanent magnet synchronous machines at very low speed and standstill, signal injection methods are commonly used. As a prerequisite these so called saliency-tracking methods require a differential magnetic anisotropy of the machine, which is both position and load dependent and thus varying during operation. So the performance of sensorless operation strongly...
This contribution investigates the influence of magnetic saturation on the sensorless control of IPM synchronous motors. An extended analytical motor model is introduced that covers magnetic anisotropies and describes the fundamental wave as well as the harmonic characteristics. Simulation results are compared to actual measurements on a servo drive.
