Wireless sensor networks have increasingly been gaining importance because of their applications in many domains, including remote sensing, traffic management, disaster alarm, and anomaly detection. In many of these applications, sensor nodes cooperate in obtaining an estimate of a control or environmental parameter to achieve capabilities that cannot be achieved by letting the nodes work individually...
The two user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) broadcast channel is studied in which the channel from one of the receivers is known instantaneously and perfectly at the transmitter, whereas the channel from the other receiver is known in a delayed manner. The degrees of freedom (DoF) region of the two-user (M; N1; N2) - MIMO broadcast channel under this model is completely characterized. The scheme...
We consider a cooperative overlay cognitive network, where the secondary exploits the primary retransmissions. We show that by using cooperation, the secondary rate can be considerably increased when compared to other schemes, without causing major impact on the primary performance. The best configuration for the proposed scheme is that in which the secondary nodes are close to the primary transmitter.
A novel interference alignment (IA) algorithm is presented. IA solutions can be obtained in closed-form for special cases only. In general, iterative algorithms need to be used. Most of these algorithms are based on a joint design of precoders at the transmitter side and receive filters at the receiver side, while the proposed method achieves IA with a precoder design only. A design based on precoders...
This paper proposes a method for adaptively controlling the admission of interference to users for our previously proposed layered partially non-orthogonal block diagonalization (BD) precoding method for downlink multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmission that employs cooperation among multiple base stations (BS). The proposed method is applicable when some of the instantaneous channel...
