Cooperative diversity is an emerging and powerful solution that can significantly improve the diversity order and link reliability over the harsh wireless fading channels. Although there has been a lot of work on achieving full diversity by using advanced space-time coding or signal processing schemes, how to increase the spectral efficiency or multiplexing gain with half-duplex relays has not received...
We present a low complexity iterative decoding method for a multiplexed Alamouti space-time code serially concatenated by a convolutional code. The space-time signalling code consists of a Gray coded 16-QAM mapper and two spatially overlaid Alamouti signalling blocks. A linear complexity decoder is used for decoding the inner space-time code. Ordinarily, an iterative decoding between the inner and...
The performance of spatial multiplexing systems with linear minimum-mean-squared-error receivers is investigated in ad hoc networks. We present new exact closed-form expressions for the outage probability and transmission capacity. These expressions reveal that from a transmission capacity perspective, single-stream transmission is preferable over multi-stream transmission.
Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks(UWSNs) could enable a broad range of applications. Data aggregation is a fundamental task in multi-hop wireless sensor networks; to the best of our knowledge, none of existing research works have addressed the interference-free data aggregation scheduling problem in UWSNs. In this paper, we formally define the data aggregation models in UWSNs, together with the...
In this paper, we study a two cell multiple input single-output interfering broadcast channel with finite rate feedback. In this system, we first derive the rate loss due to the quantization error by considering a coordinated zero-forcing beamforming. In addition, feedback bits allocation methods are proposed to minimize the performance degradation caused by the quantization error. Lastly, we investigate...
Repetition-coded relaying using half-duplex relays offers an easy way of achieving cooperative diversity that works well with apparently any source transmission schemes, but at the same time presents a potentially serious problem of inefficient spectrum utilization. Poor diversity-multiplexing tradeoff (DMT) is often reported. This paper investigates efficient ways of using repetition-type decode-and-forward...
