In this paper we introduce a resource allocation algorithm based on location information for cognitive radio systems. The location information allows a practical implementation of cognitive radio systems when the channel state knowledge of the interference links with the primary users is not available. Using this information and measurements, the secondary users estimate the pathloss between the secondary...
The race toward higher throughputs for cellular network users is getting more difficult everyday. On the one hand cellular network operators wish to increase benefits by offering new services to users, but on the other hand spare radio resource are shrinking away. The spreading of WiFi-3G dual mode devices is making this fight even harder. The new ”Femtocell” technology is expected to be the rescuer...
In wireless multimedia communications, optimizing the quality of user experience is a major design goal, which is often quantified by the end-to-end distortion between the actual multimedia source at the encoder and its reconstructed version at the decoder. Joint source-channel coding (JSCC) techniques aim to optimize codec and radio system parameters in order to minimize end-to-end distortion and...
Cooperative decoding is powerful technique for establishing good quality TV broadcasting. In cooperative decoding, some TV receivers, nodes, are cooperated, each other. These share the received information signal and thus obtain good quality information signal. Incremental-Maximum Ratio Combining (I-MRC) is one of the cooperative decoding methods. In I-MRC, the best condition's node and second one...
In this work, we analyze the performance of a multi-user sectored MIMO/OFDMA system under the limited feedback constraint. Dynamic radio resource management methods are used to a reuse-one sectorized cell in order to reduce the cross-sector interference. Simulation results show that the proposed strategy reduces the co-channel interference and maintain at the same time high spectral efficiency.
The 3GPP (Third Generation Partnership Project) LTE (Long Term Evolution) and LTE-Advanced activities work toward the evolved UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA), and the solution of IMT-Advanced (International Mobile Telecommunications) and systems beyond. The combination of OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) and MIMO (multiple-input...
In current wireless standards like 3GPP LTE or IEEE 802.16 / WiMAX multiple access is based on orthogonal signalling using single-carrier frequency-division multiple access (SC-FDMA) or orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA). Links between a base station and different terminals use mutually orthogonal radio resources. This paper studies potential gains in average cell throughput by...
