10th International Conference on Laser and Fiber-Optical Networks Modeling (LFNM 2010). 2nd IEEE International Workshop on THz Radiation: Basic Research and Applications (TERA 2010)
The properties of the optical connection of single-mode fibers by laser beams counter-propagating from the ends of these fibers are considered numerically and experimentally. It is established that effective connection of single-mode fibers at the wavelength of 1.55 μm is possible during self-channeling and interaction of optical beams at 0.63 μm in a photo-polymerizing medium. It is shown by computer...
In this report results of modeling and experimental researches of the photonic crystal fibers positioning control method based on the analysis of a measured optical field intensity and calculation of its discrete values autoconvolution are represented. Efficiency and accuracy of a method were checked by test image moving on the set size supervised by the certified measuring instrument of small moving.
In this paper the results of calculations and optimization of parameters of concave holographic diffraction grating for use in WDM multi/demultiplexer for data transmission systems with polymer optical fibers are presented.
The one-dimensional dielectric photonic crystals with complex defect layers, consisting of ultrathin superconducting and dielectric sublayers are theoretically studied. The pronounced difference in the transmittivity spectra of the photonic crystals with right-handed and left-handed positions of the superconducting defect sublayer with respect to the dielectric defect sublayer is demonstrated. The...
Two types of superluminescent diodes (SLDs) based on DQW (InGa)As/(GaAl)As/GaAs nanostructures with 25 μm-width multimode active channels emitting at 890 nm and 950nm were studied. They ensure CW optical power of more than 100 mW ex standard 50 μm multimode fiber (MMF).
The process of optical formation of dielectric waveguiding structures in transparent photopolymerizable composition (PPC) containing non-polymerizable component (NC) is considered. It is shown, that using NC does not break modes of influencing radiation self-channeling, and on the contrary, allows to provide conditions of matching of the synthesized waveguiding structures with optical fibers. Results...
Using the sol-gel technique, BaTiO3 was embedded in opal matrices that are the lattice packings of silica dioxide nanospheres for the first time. The room-temperature IR and Raman spectra clearly show characteristic vibrational modes of the ferroelectrically distorted TiO6 octahedra without any long-range order. Raman spectra bring evidence of a diffuse ferroelectric phase transition in the opal-BaTiO...
We demonstrate an explicit numerical method for accurate calculation of the scattering matrix, and its poles, and apply this method to describing the multi-channel holes scattering in multiple-quantum-wells (MQW) structures. The results of calculations show that in contrast to the single quantum-well case, at some values of MQW parameters the number of S-matrix poles may exceed that of the absolute...
We analyze the VIPA demultiplexer for different reflection profiles, i.e., uniform, graded, and Gaussian. It is shown that VIPA demultiplexer characteristics can be improved dramatically by innovative reflection profile engineering. These improvements enhance the performance of demultiplexers in UWB-Over-Fiber systems.
The transformation of an incident plane harmonic wave caused by instant creation of a plasma sphere is investigated. Two stages of field evolution is shown. At the early stage a spatial and temporal field structure is similar partly to the case of an unbounded medium. Transients in the form of a nonstationary wave spectrum are observed at the second stage. The exact expressions for the transformed...
We propose ultra-compact all-optical XOR and AND logic gates based on multi-mode interference (MMI) without using nonlinear optics. Numerical simulations show that the least ON to OFF logic-level contrast ratio is 13.3 dB for XOR logic gate and 4.3 dB for AND logic gate in the whole C-band.
Dispersion of linear and non-linear properties of chalcogenide glasses is studied in semi-empirical approach. The process of ultra-short pulse energy deposition into a glass sample is analysed in a numerical model by variation of the Kerr coefficient, multi-photon absorption coefficient and group velocity dispersion coefficient.
An automatic control technique of the cross-section microstructured optical fibers geometrical parameters is developed. This method can be used both in the control preform and in the process of drawing into an automated process control system for identify and predict the occurrence of the defect.
