This paper investigates the robust delay-dependent stability problem of a class of linear uncertain system with interval time-varying delay, and proposes less conservative stability criteria for computing the maximum allowable bound of the delay range. The proposed stability criteria are based on the delay central point technique wherein the delay interval is partitioned into two sub-intervals of...
As one of the effective way to overcome the digital divide issue in the lightly populated area, the BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) system is expected and field trials have been conducted extensively in Japan. This paper introduces the results of BWA field experiments conducted in a typical intermediate and mountainous area in Japan. In the BWA network, WiMAX units are used as relay stations and R-LAN...
Voiced speech is produced by excitation of the vocal tract system with the quasiperiodic vibrations of the vocal folds at the glottis. These excitations have become significantly stronger when the vocal folds are fully opened or about to be closed. In this work, the focus is on estimating these instants of significant excitation using temporal phase periodicity present in the speech signal. Assuming...
Wireless ad hoc networks using omni-directional antennas do not scale well due to interference between nearby nodes. Maintaining the QoS of the communications in this type of network is a difficult task. Using multiple narrow beam directional antennas alleviates this problem at the expense of connectivity. Multi-beam smart antennas allow the network topology to be adjusted dynamically by adjusting...
Currently, the field of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is becoming increasingly important and a challenging research area. Advancements in sensor networks enable a wide range of environmental monitoring and object tracking applications. Moreover, multihop routing in WSN is affected by new nodes constantly entering or leaving the network. Therefore, nature based self-organized and independent mechanisms...
A very simple method to demodulate the digital frequency modulated (FM) signal is presented in this paper. A unit delay operator, multiplier, lowpass filter, arccosine function, and adder are employed. The proposed method is easily adjusted and controlled. The computer simulations are conducted to demonstrate the performance of the proposed technique.
We proposed a fuzzy-logic-based dynamic bandwidth allocation (FLDBA) algorithm for upstream Ethernet passive optical network (EPON). In the proposed DBA algorithm, the optical line terminal allocates bandwidth to the optical network units in proportion to the priority category of the traffic class. Simulations were performed to prove the accuracy of the FLDBA algorithm by comparing the algorithm with...
Coordinate rotation digital computer (CORDIC) based digital signal processing has become an important tool in consumer, communications, biomedical, and industrial products, providing designers with significant impetus for porting algorithm into architecture. Unfolded implementations of CORDIC algorithm can achieve low latency for rotation and various functions such as division, multiplication, logarithmic...
The adder circuit is used as a main component in the multiplier circuits. The Baugh-Wooley, Braun and CSA multipliers are designed by using our proposed adder cell. The proposed adder circuit is designed by using Shannon theorem. The multiplier circuits are schematised by using DSCH2 VLSI CAD tool and their layouts are generated by using Microwind 3 VLSI CAD tool. The proposed adder based multiplier...
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) consist of a lot of sensor nodes with limited battery, memory, and processing capability. Therefore, in WSNs, effective MAC protocol is required to maximize battery life of sensor nodes, to reduce transmission delay, and to minimize communication errors. Routing enhanced MAC (RMAC) uses the path information on network layer so that multi-hop transmission within a cycle...
Reconfigurability refers to systems incorporating some form of hardware programmability, that customizes how the hardware is used using a number of physical control points. These control points can be changed periodically in order to execute different applications using the same hardware. This paper presents the design and implementation of reconfigurable switch architecture for next generation networks...
An organization undertakes various steps to make sure that their business runs smoothly without any difficulties. Among them, data protection procedure is the soul of an organisation to recover from a disaster. This minor research aims at proposing a new risk analysis method which facilitates in overcoming issues related to data protection.
Managing hardware resources efficiently when they are shared in virtualized environment is a critical issue for improving application QoS. For CPU resources, virtual machine scheduling delays should be additionally concerned, because they cause unexpected service delays to guest applications and can consequently violate the application QoS. There have been many researches to manage CPU resources by...
The Mellin transform (MT) is a form of a signal representation similar to Fourier transform (FT) which has been widely used in signal processing owing to its distinct properties like scale invariance. In this work, a 2D form of MT which is termed as 2D discrete Mellin transform (DMT) is introduced. The paper also proposes an area efficient, power aware and multiplier less VLSI architecture for 2D...
This paper proposes a novel power supply transient current sensing based completion detector for single rail asynchronous systems to achieve high throughput compared to systems using speculative delay. This paper also proposes a new event separator logic for separating data tokens, in situations where the current sensor is idle due to consecutively same inputs. This type of logic is indispensable...
Power gating is an effective method to reduce leakage current in logic circuits during sleep mode. However, conventional power gating technique for minimizing leakage current introduces ground bounce noise during sleep to active mode transition. In this paper, a high performance stacking power gating structure is introduced which minimizes the leakage power and provides a way to control the ground...
This paper describes evolutionary image filter design for noise reduction using genetic algorithm (GA), where the circuit complexity, power and signal delay are optimized. First, the evaluating value about correctness, complexity, power and signal delay are introduced to the fitness function. Then GA autonomously synthesizes a circuit which is simple and has good performance. To verify the effectiveness...
As the Internet is rapidly growing and its popularity increases, users tend to use creative, time-conservative, entertained and economical technologies. Real-time applications such as online gaming, voice and video applications are becoming more popular. Research effort to improve scheduling mechanisms in routers is currently given less attention by network researchers. This trend is far behind in...
A new, simple and effective communication protocol is developed and evaluated for implementation in power line communication (PLC) based automatic meter reading (AMR) systems. The protocol involves request broadcasting by the data concentrator (DC) and subsequent re-broadcasting by lower level meters up till the third hop using a novel dual purpose packet for transmission. The proposed routing protocol...
An analysis of the influence of tube diameter on single-walled nanotube (SWCNT) bundle interconnect delay is presented. The analysis shows that due to low resistance and inductance SWCNT-bundle interconnect is of lower delay than copper interconnect. Delay increases with increase in tube diameter of SWCNT. It is desirable to restrict tube diameter to the minimum possible.
