Double sided pumping of an Yb:YAG planar waveguide laser is is shown to improve pump absorption and uniformity to give 230 W output using cylindrical mirror waveguide resonator.
We report on active Q-switching of ytterbium-doped fibre laser using a new type of deformable micro-mirror. This cantilever-type micro-mirror increases the modulation rate of the laser cavity losses while keeping a high actuating frequency. Hence, we obtained shorter pulses than 10 ns for frequencies up to 50 kHz. The maximum frequency we reached was of 800 kHz with a pulse duration of 100 ns.
Using a type-I critically phase-matched bismuth borate crystal, a record 620 mW single-frequency red laser at 671 nm is achieved from intra-cavity SHG of a pi-polarized single-end pumped Nd:YVO4 ring laser oscillating on the lambda~1342 nm transition.
All-in-fiber SESAM-modelocked self-starting fiber laser is demonstrated. Cavity dispersion is managed by a spliced-in PM all-solid photonic bandgap fiber. The laser directly delivers 1.25 nJ pulses of 280 fs duration.
