We have coherently combined up to 7.2 W CW using an individually addressable 10-element-array of 960-nm slab-coupled optical waveguide lasers (SCOWLs). We are currently scaling the phase-locked output power to 100 W using SCOWL stacks.
We present the use of a third order distributed feedback waveguide for double metal THz quantum cascade laser as a successful design to obtain high slope efficiency of 50 mW/A, spectral emission control and narrow single lobed far field (5degtimes 8deg).
Laser-written single-mode waveguides in As2Se3/As2S3 films were characterized at 8.35 mum using the Fabry-Perot technique. Waveguide loss and refractive index were measured as a function of writing dose and compared to modeling results.
Using cis-trans isomerization of azo polymers we can fabricate waveguides, gratings and other periodic structures. Here we have fabricated a two dimensional photonic crystal which acts as an active Add/Drop WDM switch.
