The category theory based model (8th GrC Model) has been proposed as the ldquofinalrdquo GrC Model. This paper is to discuss its specialization into the category of qualitative fuzzy sets. Here are the main points: 1) Let Col be the collection of real world fuzzy sets on U, where U is a crisp set. 2) Let V be the type I fuzzy sets of col. Namely, V, denoted by MF(U), is the set of all membership functions...
Various approaches have been proposed to perform concept approximation using a concept lattice developed from a formal context. This paper reviews several of these approaches and examines the relationships among them. Since concept approximation is also strongly related to determining the similarity between concepts within a concept lattice, a variety of methods for measuring concept similarity are...
In this paper we examine issues involving measures of creativity for attribute data generalization using hierarchies. In particular we consider consensus and specificity measures for the partitions that result using crisp concept hierarchies. We note that fuzzy hierarchies do not produce partitions of data in general so some approaches to considering degrees of partitioning is described.
A methodology for construction of models using genuine expressions of natural language, namely the so called evaluative linguistic expressions is presented. A sophisticated formal theory of their meaning provides us a tool with a great application potential. These expressions occur also in conditional clauses of natural language which are gathered into linguistic descriptions, for example, of complex...
This paper investigates the potential application of natural language processing techniques in order to improve the effectiveness of assistive technologies in Aphasia rehabilitation. Aphasia rehabilitation has predominately been centered on therapy sessions with speech language pathologists. While augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices have made identifiable progress in providing...
Ambient Intelligence offers significant benefits to e-commerce services, which is facilitated by the emergence of ubiquity (being available everywhere), universality (being able to operate in heterogeneous environments), uniqueness (relating services to a context such as the location) and working in unison (allowing multiple parties to work together). This type of e-commerce has been termed u-commerce...
This paper proposes a possibilistic database model that enables dealing with incomplete possibility distributions. The situation considered is that where the data provider does not have a complete knowledge of the attribute domains involved and is only able to specify more or less possible and completely impossible candidates for some attribute values. It is shown that the framework we propose constitutes...
