A Ti:Sa laser using a combination of negatively- and positively-chirped pulse amplification (NPCPA) is demonstrated. The method suppresses spectral narrowing typically appearing in CPA lasers thus supporting bandwidth much broader than a conventional CPA.
We demonstrate the highest contrast -1011 multi-terawatt CPA Ti:sapphire laser by applying a modified XPW method. This method produces a contrast improvement by direct amplification of the oscillator pulse without double CPA system.
A pair of nearly identical volumetric Bragg gratings held at different temperatures serving as the end mirrors of a Ti:sapphire laser made possible very narrow output linewidth and enabled easy optimization of the laser output.
