Direct-detection differential polarization-phase-shift keying is experimentally demonstrated at 10 Gsymbol/s, in which polarization-phase symbols are differentially decoded by using optical interferometric demodulation and electrical multilevel decision without the need of dynamic polarization control.
We present a novel silica fiber taper modal Mach-Zehnder interferometer design for low-cost broadband DPSK demodulation and multi-channel duobinary signals generation. The design is compact, temperature-insensitive and easily fabricated in standard single mode fiber.
