Direct-detection differential polarization-phase-shift keying is experimentally demonstrated at 10 Gsymbol/s, in which polarization-phase symbols are differentially decoded by using optical interferometric demodulation and electrical multilevel decision without the need of dynamic polarization control.
XPM impairment on PolDM RZ-DQPSK transmission is experimentally investigated over 50 km uncompensated SMF fiber. Measured propagation penalties due to a 50 or 100 GHz spaced RZ-shaped channel at different power and state of polarization are discussed.
We have experimentally demonstrated 8 times 10 Gbit/s modified duo-binary RZ (MD-RZ) signal repeaterless transmission over a record length of 240 km standard fibre (SMF-28). A Raman amplifier was used to enhance the OSNR and extend the repeaterless transmission distance with low receiver penalty.
Experimental data is presented on the performance of high saturation power SOAs with 43 Gb/s NRZ and DPSK signals. Up to 8 SOAs are concatenated demonstrating that only DPSK leads to error-free performance.
