A single nanoparticle of SiO2 is optically trapped inside an ultrahigh-vacuum compatible chamber system. The motion of the particle inside the trap is observed with the Michelson-type interferometer. The system presented in this paper will enable us to realize a mixture of a single nanoparticle and a laser-cooled gas for investigating interaction between a mesoscopic particle and laser-cooled atoms.
