This paper presents a dual output converter with a bridge-less, power factor controlled, buck based front-end, which could be in parallel with a PV based dc source. The diode bridge rectifier is eliminated and the configuration consists of separate buck converters for the positive and negative halves of the AC supply. Conduction loss is reduced since the bridgeless configuration ensures that only one diode conducts at a time. Discontinuous mode of operation contributes to inherent power factor improvement and power quality is improved. The frequency of the Inductor-Capacitor-Capacitor (LCC) resonant converter regulates the first output. The duty cycle of the converter regulates the second output. Thus cross regulation is almost eliminated. The implementation of the resonant tank contributes to ZVS. Switching losses are reduced and efficiency is improved. The topology is simulated using PSIM and a hardware prototype is fabricated some experimental results are presented.
