This article discusses the specific weight and overall dimensions of the semiconductor technology, a systematic approach to the synthesis of electrical complexes. Two main directions in the design of electrical machines are shown. The article presents assessment of the validity of replacing the continuous switching power supply units, as well as the listed technical and economic parameters of the semiconductor technology. The results of the analysis of a wide range of the semiconductor technologies (at the examination of the technical documentation and practical testing on laboratory pilot frequency converters of different companies) produced by modern electrical firms are presented.
