Quality of electricity, i.e. Power Quality is taking a major concern from researchers as well as utilities considering the immediate and long term impacts that it engenders especially on economy. Researchers, engineers, scientific community and even manufacturers have deeply thought about techniques and methodologies to monitor the Power Quality aspects and attributes. In this respect, we present in this paper an Energy and Power Quality Monitoring System that is able of evaluating PQ disturbances as well as the waveform quality of a smart power distribution via the calculation of Power Quality attributes mainly: the Total Harmonic Distortion voltage and current, as well as harmonics spectrum determination and power factor evaluation. The system is then experimentally validated on a laboratory test bed to determine and quantify the impacts of Induction Motor disturbances on the grid power supply.
