Magnetic properties of ferromagnetic materials are important features in power transformer and electrical machine design and manufacture, which should be measured accurately. The measurement data under a small frequency range is given by proposed methods. However, the data at high-frequency needs to be investigated more deeply. A novel 2-D magnetic properties tester for ferromagnetic material specimen has been designed and constructed. The 2-D magnetization structure is combined by four “C-type” iron cores and four step shape excitation windings. Each winding is divided into three sections to extend the frequency range. Accurate simulation and comparison was made to verify that the new structure is more suitable for measurement. By using the composite sensing structure of sensing coil combined with needle probe method, B and H signals can be accurately detected. Therefore, magnetic properties in wide range of frequency can be really concerned and analyzed in practical engineering.
