The characteristics of lead acid batteries are normally affected by several factors such as (discharge depth, the enclitic temperature, battery storage, transportation, and installation, etc.), in turn, affect the design of solar systems. In this work we focused on the battery's performance, cost and shortage factors and their effects on the design. Four types of HOPPECKE battery were chosen in this work. The max annual capacity shortage is changed over (10, 20, and 30) % to realize cost control assumption. The paper proved that the optimum results are obtained by using HOPPECKE H800 battery type with respect to the performance and cost in case of (30%) shortage. On the other hand, the cost of the proposed solar system is reduced by using HOPPECKE H600 in case of (10% and 20%) shortage.
