A method for the adaptive signal decomposition by using the frequency boundary information is proposed. This is achieved by the high-order derivative operation that could extract the frequency-domain boundary between the highest frequency portion and the rest parts of signal by using the proper order value and a subsection filtering method based on fast Fourier transform. Simulations show that the proposed method performs better in frequency resolution, modal aliasing than empirical mode decomposition, ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) and complementary ensemble empirical mode decomposition (CEEMD).
