This paper proposes a Switched Reluctance Motor Drive for Hybrid Electric Vehicle application. The generally used Asymmetric Bridge Converter has a large number of switches, resulting in more losses and negative torque current. This is compensated with a Reduced Switch Converter having lesser numbers of switches and positive torque current and is more suitable for HEV. The Drive is powered by Battery/Super Capacitor. The Motor is operated in Motoring mode for Driving application as well as in Regenerative Braking mode, making the Drive to be Bidirectional and can able to regenerate a part of the energy supplied to the system.
