In this paper multilevel inverter is realized by two numbers of 3 phase two level voltage source inverter (VSI), connected in cascaded mode. The inverter is used to feed star connected squirrel cage induction motor through a 12 terminals transformer (primary windings are opened and secondary windings are connected in star). This power scheme is used to accommodate low dc voltage (which is in the order of battery bank or solar PV panel) to feed power to general rated machines, mainly used in drive systems like electric vehicle, solar pump system. Rotor flux oriented vector control is developed for this power scheme and one decoupled switching algorithm is used to implement space vector PWM. The performance of the control is found to be satisfactory with the variations in speed command by 25%, and change in load by 65% with respect to rated values.
