Underwater acoustic (UWA) transmission schemes are an interesting area of communication research, in which achieving high data rate, low latency and high throughput is challenging task. In this paper, we trying to provide a survey on various efficient techniques which that includes channel estimation, channel equalization and efficient modulation schemes to achieve high data rate in the receiver using OFDM scheme for underwater acoustic communication. We are focusing for designing a block-by-block iterative receiver for underwater MIMO-OFDM that includes channel estimation with highly efficient modulation techniques for underwater acoustic communication. Also we found some efficient modulation techniques like BPSK, DPSK and 16-QAM for underwater channel communication which are best in achieving high data rate by considering more subcarriers.
