This study evaluated the accuracy of ECG recordings captured by CardioChip — a single channel, low power, miniature ECG system-on-chip (SoC) designed for mobile applications, through comparison to a FDA cleared, widely-used standard 12-lead ECG recording device, Philips Pagewriter Trim III, within Mackay Memorial Hospital at Taiwan. There were 60 participants aged 39–87 evaluated. Two cardiovascular physicians found the ECG morphology to be the same between two devices, though CardioChip ECG showed more sensitivity to baseline noise. R-peak amplitudes measured by two devices showed statistical consistency. Offline analysis of signal correlation coefficients and coherence, both over 0.94 in average, indicated excellent correlation between two ECG recordings. The results suggested that CardioChip ECG is comparable to medical standard ECG.
