The complexity of transient electromagnetic scattering from objects in free space has been well known for years. Various scattering events, such as specular reflection, edge diffraction and creeping wave, increase the complexity. In this paper, a method in the view of the movement of free electrons to analyze the characteristics of transient pulses scattered from metal cylinder object both in near-field and far-field is proposed. The normal incidence to bottom of cylinder condition is considered.
