A new fast location and pose detection method is proposed in this paper. Compared with the methods based on template matching, this method can realize the fast detection of the location and pose of the workpiece. Firstly, it extracts the inner and outer contours of the workpiece after image preprocessing, then the regional core-shape method based the outer contour is adopted to calculate the center coordinates of the workpiece. Finally, according to the characteristic relations between the inner contour and the minimum-area bounding rectangle, the attitude angle of the workpiece can be acquired. The experimental results show that the proposal method can be well-used to detect the location and pose of the workpiece.
