With the increasing of the data requirements, unlicensed spectrum becomes a new hot topic. LTE-Unlicensed or LTE-U has already been one of the latest groundbreaking innovations to provide high performance and seamless coverage. This paper firstly gives a comprehensive analysis on how to realize standalone LTE-U based on pre-Release 13 specifications, including initial cell search, random access and data transmission schemes. This enables mobile industries to demonstrate the feature to customers, especially for those who are eager to march to the telecommunication area but have no licensed spectrum. A critical issue of LTE-U is the collision among all wireless technologies in unlicensed spectrum. A Time and Frequency Division (TFD) algorithm is proposed to solve the control signaling collision among LTE-U systems, by scheduling the System Information Blocks (SIB) in different SI window and/or in different frequency resources. In order to avoid inter-site SI window collision, randomized window selection is introduced. Experiment demonstrates that the proposed algorithm can commendably eliminate the control signaling collision among LTE-U systems.
